Travelling to Portugal?

With such an friendly region to choose from, you are spoilt for choice when it comes to picking a beach in Albufeira. The most popular is Praia d'Oura, which is just east of Albufeira Town, and is particularly renowned as the nightlife capital of the region with clubs, discos and bars galore. The Strip is famed for its many bars that keep visitors happy well into the early hours with clubs like Sir Harry's, Kiss and Capitulo. It should be noted that during the summer months Albufeira is especially popular with young singles and can be rowdy into the early hours.

Praia do Inatel is the old town's main beach with a huge boulder sitting in the sand, Praia dos Pescadores is a fisherman's beach filled with small fishing boats, while Praia do Forte do Sao Joao marks the end of the shoreline that sits on the old town beach. Watersports are admired along all of the main beaches, with jet skiing, windsurfing and sailing readily accessible. Further away from the old town, there are many other sands secrets between the rocky crags, including Praia dos Arrifes, which is the smallest beach in the region.

Albufeira Old Town has reserved much of its heritage. Much like the rest of the Algarve, seafood dominates in the restaurants of Albufeira, as well as at La Ruina and Os Azeiteros, though if you fancy a full English breakfast you should head to Merlin's Snackbar. For shopping, the town's main plaza is the Modelo Centre in Rua de Municipio, though you could be tempted to reach into your wallet at some of the many seafront kiosks. The Algarve Shopping Complex in Guia is also greatly popular with restaurants, an English cinema and a bowling alley.

The old town centre draws many visitors with local landmarks including the 18th century Parish Church at Rua da Igreja Nova, which was built on the site of earthquake, and the Clock Tower at Rua Bernardino de Sousa. There is also a museum and a number of galleries.

Golf is one of the main attractions for the Algarve and the Albufeira region is no exception. About three miles east of the old town is the nine-hole Pine Cliffs course and there are many larger courses dotted along the coastline, with stunning sea views. For those travelling with children, the Zoo Marine in Guia is well worth a visit. Remember to check Algarve Car Hire for best deals.

Three Incredible Courses For Algarve Golf In Albufeira

Balaia, Pine Cliffs and Salgados are courses for Algarve golf in Albufeira. Balaia golf course was opened in 2001. Balaia is considered a smaller course with only nine holes that allow golfers to improve their short game and iron shots. Located near the sea, golfers have a beautiful background to play against. The Holiday complex sits in front of the Balaia course. This course helps the player learn the techniques for controlling the direction and the length of the shot. The course has a par twenty-seven with a length of 984 meters. The course has a bar, restaurant, pro shop, chipping green, putting green and a driving range.

Pine Cliffs is another place for Algarve golf in Albufeira. Martin Hawtree designed pine Cliffs in 1991. The course has a par thirty-three with nine holes. The cliff top is where you will find this amazing golf course. The Hotel Sheraton keeps the courses groomed and very well maintained. Golfers will have pine tress and a ravine to content with when playing this course. The ninth hold presents a beautiful view of the ravine and the sandy beach below. The course was designed with a restaurant and bar, pro shop, chipping green, putting green and a driving range. The Pine Cliffs golf course does have a Golf Academy for those wanting golf lessons.

Allgarve golf in Albufeira includes the eighteen hole Salgados. The course is developed on the flatlands located behind the Praia de Gale. The course has very little vegetation, but the water traps are found everywhere. The breeze form the shoreline does pose some problems for players who have never played in prevailing winds before. The par for this course is seventy-two. In 1994, R. Muir-Graves designed this course, which is said to be a tough course to take. Billy Sim set the course record of a par sixty-six back in 1998. The course does have a putting, driving and chipping green. The restaurant and bar are found in the clubhouse as well as the pro shop.

The course has a bunker area, which is not found at the other courses in Albufeira. For those wanting to play Algarve golf in Albufeira, this course seems to be the more challenging of the three courses. The designs and beautiful scenery surrounding the courses are what make these golf courses so popular. Golfers from all over the world come to play these courses.
